Hello everybody on the forum. I thought I would come on and wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year from Neville and myself. I am sorry I have been a bit of a letdown this year, but with one thing and another I found it very very difficult to come on to the forum and talk to you. I feel terrible that I have not been the support to you that I have been in the past. I know that we all have problems but mine seen to have stretched practically the whole of the year. I seem to get over one catastrophe when another one strikes. I have a new member of staff who is a qualified district nurse. I am still trying to work out whether that's a good thing or a bad thing!! She has fitted in very well actually. Neville is not well at all. He doesn't really seem to have recovered since his pneumonia in June. The only highlight for me has been my dog. She drives everybody crackers and licks you to death given half the chance. It is the best thing I ever did. Unfortunately, even she can't get rid of the blight on the horizon. I spend most of my time in bed at the moment as my back is very very bad and my neck isn't much better. I am waiting to see the new consultant at Wrightington about my right leg being operated on again. I still haven't had my right elbow put back and as you can imagine all this is causing me pain. I am really hammering the morphine for fun. Well, all that I can do is to wish you all a pain-free Christmas and as much as possible, a pain free New Year. All my very very best and lots of love Gwenda xxx

Lovely to see you posting Gwenda, I'm sorry that you're having such a horrible time though. It's good that your dog is a good companion, even if she does lick you to death!

A merry Christmas to you and Nev, and I do hope that 2010 is better for you.

Love Lyn

Lovely to see you posting, Gwenda, but I so wish you weren`t having such a horrible time, pain-wise. And Nev too - pneumonia is a terrible thing to get over, I believe. I once did some supply work many years ago for a teacher who had it - I started with a contract for 3 weeks, and stayed for 6 months. He was a single man, and needed more care, I think, but it must leave a person feeling very weak.

Your dog sounds gorgeous - they are so affectionate. Ours is almost 13 now, and getting stiff, but he comes to life in the snow - rolling over & over in it, and burying his nose in it.

I hope you and Nev have a Happy Christmas, and that 2010 is much kinder to you both.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Lovely to see you posting, Gwenda, but sorry to hear you're having such an awful time, and that Neville isn't well either. Thank goodness for your dog, they're a great tonic, aren't they? Hope 2010 is better for you.

Hi Gwenda,

Lovely to hear from you, but I'm so sorry you're having such a bad time at the moment and are in so much pain. Nev too, I do hope he starts to pick up soon.
Even when you don't post Gwenda, I often think of you and you are an inspiration to many of us I'm sure. It certainly stops me moaning about my aches and pains when I think of what yo have to endure!
Thank goodness for your dog, she sounds to be a loving companion and I'm sure she often manages to distract you from your pain.
I hope you and Nev manage to enjoy Christmas and hope things pick up for you both in the New Year.

Lots of love,
Doreen xx

Dear Gwenda,

I am so pleased to hear from you but not a bit surprised that you haven't been up to posting and offering support to others. The thing is Gwenda, that when you do post you prove to be inspiration to all of us. It is so sad that things have not improved for you. Nev is having such a rough time of it as well. Thank goodness that you have the dog to cheer you up. The new lady will be a challange to you! With her experience she will try to sort you out! She has no chance!

Sending you all the best warmest wishes. We could really do with you here but understand that you cant regularly.

Lots of love, peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
